Activities, events, and experiences in Mahtomedi — from lake life to community gatherings and local hidden gems.

Things to Do in Mahtomedi

Mahtomedi is a community built around the lake, so most of the activities center on Long Lake and the outdoors. But there is more to do here than you might expect.

Late July 2026

Late July in Mahtomedi means the lake is in full swing — boats are out from dawn to dusk, the community beach is packed on weekends, and the Saturday farmers market at Veterans Memorial Park is running strong. Food Truck Friday is this Friday, July 23, at the District Education Center (4:30-7 PM), and Concerts in the Park are happening on select Wednesdays at Wedgewood Park. The Washington County Fair opens next week. This is lake living at its best.

On the Water

Boating, fishing, swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding on Long Lake are the primary warm-weather activities. The community beach is a gathering spot for families, and the boat landing is where neighbors cross paths.

Mahtomedi Area Farmers' Market

Saturdays, 8 AM–noon at Veterans Memorial Park (Triangle Park), running June 27 through September 26. Local produce, baked goods, and handmade items. A great Saturday morning stop for fresh food and a chance to run into neighbors. Market info

Community Events

The 4th of July celebration is the marquee event — fireworks over the lake, neighborhood potlucks on the pier, and the kind of community gathering that makes small-town lake life special. Throughout the year, lake association meetings, fishing tournaments, and seasonal gatherings keep the community connected.
