Parks & Trails
The Twin Cities lake communities have extensive park systems and trails. From lakeside paths to hidden nature preserves, there is no shortage of outdoor space to explore.
Right Now — Trails in Full Bloom
Late August is when the trails and parks are at their lushest and most inviting. Wildflowers are in full bloom, the tree canopy is thick, and the long evening daylight — still stretching past 8 PM — means you can still walk or bike after dinner. Lake Elmo Park Reserve and the St. Croix corridor are especially beautiful right now. The last free Art in the Park classes for kids run through September 7 at Spruce Park in White Bear Lake. Mahtomedi's new floating boardwalk at Katherine Abbott Park is a great addition for kayakers and paddleboarders this season. Get out and enjoy the last stretch of summer.
